STILL LIFES
Daniel Santamaria has realised a series of freely inspired still life, in which the leading roles are the flowers in contrast to crockery. He has created a play of contrasts between living and inert elements, contrasting textures: shiny and matte, light and dark, fragile and strong, warm and cold, dry and tender and also, contrasting shapes: small and big, specific and ethereal, cylindrical, horizontal and diagonal. A play of feelings that connects the idea of still life that we all keep in our imagination with a brave and delicate interpretation of floral expression.
Still life has been represented throughout the whole history of art: in paintings, sculpture, engravings, furniture and photography. Hunting pieces, fruit, vegetables, flowers, crockery, utensils, books, skulls and more play the leading role in artistic scenes.
